Shortly after Fiber & Vine opened, I competed in a knitting contest, hoping to earn the title of Maine’s fastest knitter. In front of a cheering crowd, I knitted nervously, with clenched teeth and tight shoulders. My nerves got the better of me and I dropped a bunch of stitches. But guess what? I still came in second!
Speed knitting is not all it’s cracked up to be. You make a lot of mistakes, it takes a toll on your body, and to tell you the truth, I don’t recommend it. If your goal is to complete more projects, the key is to pick the right pattern and materials to keep you inspired. That’s where this pattern comes in! It’s amazing to me how a simple combination of knit and purl stitches can be so striking, yet virtually mindless to knit. The yarns I used are so buttery soft, it’s hard to put the project down. Cast on Friday night and you might be able to wear it on Sunday! No pressure though, I’ll cheer you on no matter how long it takes.
Weekend Cowl kits are avaiable at Fiber & Vine, 402 Main Street in Norway, www.fiberandvine.com
