 WEEKEND COWL
Make it and wear it in a weekend! by Kim Hamlin
Finished Measurements: 16” tall and 40” around Materials:
Manos del Uruguay Maxima (100% extra fine merino, 219 yards) in color Natural; 2 skeins.
Manos del Uruguay Cabritio (80% kid mohair, 20% polyamide, 230 yards) in color Sea Salt; 2 skeins.
These two yarns are held together throughout.
Gauge: 14 stitches = 4” in stitch pattern after blocking. Exact gauge is not crucial to this project.
Needles: US #10 29-32” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Other Supplies:
Stitch marker, tapestry needle.
Abbreviations Used:
K: Knit P: Purl
Holding yarns together, cast on 135 stitches using the long tail cast on method.
Place marker and join into the round, being careful not to twist your stitches.
Round 1: (K4, p4) to last 7 stitches, k4, p3. Round 2: P1, *(k4, p4) repeat from * to last 6
stitches, k4, p2.
Round 3: P2, *(k4, p4) repeat from * to last 5 stitches, k4, p1.
Round 4: P3, *(k4, p4) repeat from * to last 4 stitches, k4.
Round 5: (P4, k4) to last 7 stitches, p4, k3. Round 6: K1, *(p4, k4) repeat from * to last 6
stitches, p4, k2.
Round 7: K2, *(p4, k4) repeat from * to last 5 stitches, p4, k1.
Round 8: K3, *(p4, k4) repeat from * to last 4 stitches, p4.
Repeat rounds 1-6 until most of your yarn has been used up.
Finishing: Bind off loosely in pattern. Use tapestry needle to sew in tails and block as desired.
